Garantem-nos que competição para a distrital do PSD vai ser discutida entre o Santal e o Compal. Traduzindo de laranjês para português: Na corrida estão os vitaminados Marcelo Nuno e Pedro Machado. O que é mais ou menos boa fruta do mesmo cesto. Como já provaram os reclames dos luminosos, os nobres vereadores são recomendados pelas principais marcas de jarras. No fim da jornada, ganhe quem ganhar, o produto Light vai imperar nos laranjais do Mondego.

Notebook Sales: Netbooks To Boost Sales Worldwide

With more and more brands like Acer, Dell and HP entering the market for low-cost small notebooks like the Asus' Eee PC, the market specialists from Topology Research raised forecasts for the worldwide laptop market from 120 to 128 million units. That is around 7 percent more than expected. So Topology Research sees a plus of 37 percent in comparison to 2007 with 93 million sold notebooks. Also the notebook manufacturer from Taiwan, who are controlling far more than 90 percent of the worldwide laptop production, have raised their expectations.

Quanta Computer gains in the first quarter of 2008 a world market share of 31 percent, followed by Compal with 24 percent and Wistron with 16 percent. Together with Inventec and the Asus spin-off Pegatron they made in Q1 2008 about 91 percent of the global laptop production. Asustek (Asus) has sold for the first half of 2008 about 2 million Eee PC. Asustek (Asus) expects for the year 2008 altogether 5 million Eee PCs out of about 10 million low-cost netbooks.

The industry-wide notebook battery shortage will delay UMPCs getting into the hands of buyers, but should be over in Q3 2008.

Compal Vital investe três milhões no sabor romã-chá

A Compal Vital lançou uma campanha de divulgação do seu novo sabor, romã-chá. Para tal, a Young & Rubicam desenvolveu um anúncio em que um grupo de monges budistas executa movimentos de artes marciais para simbolizar o poder antioxidante da romã.

A campanha foi realizada por Diamantino Ferreira e representa um investimento de três milhões de euros. O filme "Monges" será veiculado na televisão de 23 de Junho a 27 de Julho e será complementado por mupis e acções no ponto de venda.

So Compal's announcement of notebooks and laptops with Intel Centrino 2 'Montevina' mobile platform gets for sure a lot of attention. Empresa da série Dr. House produz spot para Compal

A Hybrid, empresa responsável pela animação da série norte-americana Dr. House, foi a responsável pela produção do novo spot do Compal Essencial, que tem criatividade da Y&R e que mostra uma viagem pelo interior do corpo humano para comprovar o impacto do consumo de fruta.

O investimento será de um milhão de euros, numa campanha composta por três filmes de 28 segundos, relativo a cada fruta: manga, ananás e morango. «Temos consciência que esta forma de comunicar é forte e por essa razão recorremos a uma produtora que é perita em desenvolver este tipo de trabalho a partir de uma base real do interior do corpo humano», explicou a brand manager do Compal Essencial, Madalena Faria.

A campanha vai estar na televisão até meados de Julho e tem direcção criativa de Judite Mota.

Portatil Ahtec Sense XFL90 Duo = Compal IFL90 en Linux Ubuntu Gutsy

Cuando instalamos ubuntu gutsy observamos que sin tocar apenas nada tenemos compiz funcionando con una gran compatibilidad.

Cosas que no funcionan "in box" :

No hay sonido.
Parece ser que no funciona el lector de tarjetas SD/MMC (no lo he probado). Funciona perfectamente con RS-MMC que venía en mi Nokia N70.
El portatil no se suspende ni hiberna. En otro portatil con exactas características, funciona sin necesidad de hacer nada. Esto quiere decir que ubuntu a metido alguna actualización en los repositorios que solucionan el problema.
La explicación para el Wifi que voy a dar a continuación solo sirve para la versión B/G, para la N el modulo sería el iwl4965(pero nunca he probado). El WiFi funciona bien, pero el driver para la "Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection" no es del todo estable. Sólo hay que cambiar el modulo que viene con ubuntu "ipw3945" por el "iwl3945". Si alguno quiere que lo explique como se hace, que me lo diga en los comentarios.
1. La explicación para cambiar de modulo es la siguiente.
2. Tal y como comenta este usuario: en consola sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules y buscamos una linea parecida a esto:

```
3. Borra esas lineas, o comentalas con #.
4. Ponemos en la lista negra de modulos el modulo ipw3945, es importante que nos hagamos root mediante sudo su, por que vamos a usar redirecciones a archivos y no nos vale el sudo.
5. Ya somos root ponemos : echo blacklist ipw3945 >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
6. Ahora para que carge el modulo iwl3945 al encender el pc, ponemos(como root tambien) echo iwl3945 >> /etc/modules
7. Se puede hacer algo para no tener que reiniciar con rmmod y modprobe para para no complicarnos reiniciar el pc, sudo reboot

Cosas que no he conseguido hacer funcionar :

Fingerprint : He compilado el driver y probado bastante y no he conseguido nada, si alguno lo consigue que me haga un feedback o lo comente aqui. Las instrucciones son estas : http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader
Parece ser que el modem es un winmodem aunque tambien hay info por internet y puede que en un tiempo se consiga hacer funcionar (tampoco me he pegado mucho con ello): https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Smartlink

El problema del sonido se soluciona compilando la ultima version de alsa de la siguiente manera:

Bajate el codigo fuente de alsa 1.0.15.rc3
sudo dpkg -i alsa-source_1.0.15rc3-ldd1_all.deb
cd /usr/src
sudo apt-get install module-assistant
sudo module-assistant a-i alsa-source
Si todo ha salido bien, deberas ver el siguiente mensaje : You should now stop all applications using sound devices and reload all ALSA sound modules.
Todavía no reinicies, necesitas añadir una linea al modulo alsa-base
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Y añade esta linea al final: options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba
Ya podemos reiniciar: sudo shutdown -r now
Ya deberias tener sonido.

Para el lector de tarjetas:

Nos bajamos este paquete.
Lo instalamos : sudo dpkg -i ricoh-r5c832-fix_1_i386.deb

Y por último para que podamos hibernar y suspendar:

sudo gedit /etc/default/acpi-support
Cambiamos SAVE_VBE_STATE y POST_VIDEO de true a false.

Facts: Preface is a personal media display platform that is used in display subsystems such as a sub-display on a notebook PC. Quanta and Compal is supporting PortalPlayer's Preface technology. Preface supports 320 x 240 (QVGA) or 176 x 220 (QCIF+) for always-on access to information such as time, date, email, etc. Preface was introduced at Computex, Taipei.

Opinion: Do I want an extra display on the cover of my notebook PC sipping away at my already taxed battery? Is the information on that tiny display going to be that important for me to always have it on? I am not sure. I think that's what Blackberry devices and Treo 700s are for if you want always-on features. If battery technology improves significantly in the next several months making Vista-loaded super-duper notebook PCs run at least more than the average 4-5 hours, may the added juice-sucking sub-display might be worth it. Besides, that sub-display will make notebook PCs even thicker than they are now.

TPO: Toppoly and Philips

The merger of Taiwan's Toppoly Optoelectronics Corp. into Royal Philips Electronics has been completed on June 6 and is called TPO. The principal shareholders are Taiwan-based Compal Electronics (25.1%), Philips (17.5%) and UniPresident Enterprises Corp. (3.5%). The result of its merger completion will be a Euro 28 million pre-tax profit from operations in the second quarter of 2006.

Micro Express HEL8016: First Interchangeable Component Notebook PC

Micro Express is a system supplier in California and sells the first notebook PC with interchangeable parts. The NBPC is integrated by Compal and has been verified by Intel. Intel has recently introduced the interchangeability inititative. I don't know why this too so long. We have this with desktops, why not NBPCs? It's a good development. Among the things that can be replaced is the LCD. Yeah!

But there is one thing: The ribbons that attach the LCDs to the mainboard of a NBPC is different depending on the pixel format of the LCD. For instance, if the LCD is the regular 1280 x 800 or 1024 x 768 or even a 1680 x 1050, a regular pin connector is sufficient. However at 1920 x 1200 the pin connector is different because of the added data that need to pass through the ribbon. At least, this is what I think. I hope Micro Express solved this problem.

The HEL8016 NBPC comes with a 15.4" 1280 x 800 LCD and if I were to purchase it, I would upgrade the 15.4" to a 1920 x 1200 when I install Vista, around late 2007.
